There was line warm weather for the ices. There were few New Zealanders resent. Cohranveil was scratched lor the ii]i at 12.4 J. Bonny led all the way in the Hopeful ;akes, and won comfortably. She ist 120 guineas as a yearling. She is recorded two wins and one second three starts. Her time equalled ampion’s, and is a course record. Impartial was fourth early, and led to the straight in the Elms Handicap id won nicely. He was raced by lexle’s part owner, C. G. Brown. Matang led throughout the March eepleehase and won nicely. His rider tgell won the National Hurdles on lylieau. Sea Money was third early in tin istralian Cup and won nicely. Frilrd finished strongly and Kingun surmised everyone. Sea Money’s owner. T. Davies, raced the hurdler Rildin. Both are trained by G. Murrell. This is Sea Money’s most important win to date. Merab was always prominent and narrowly beat the fast-finisliing Lowfield in the Nursery Handicap. Merab who is owned and trained at Adelaide, was ridden by Dempsey. Thracian Belle was fourth early in the Ilourke Handicap, hut finishing fast Won easily. She is owned and trained at Adelaide, and ridden by N. Percival. The sectional times in the Cup were as follows: First six furlongs 1.19}, last six, 1.15}, concluding mile 1.41. Results: — Hopeful Stakes.— Bonny 1, Golden Cluster 2, Scarcity 3. Yon by two lengths. Time 1.24}. which is a quarter of a second outside the Australian and New Zealand record. J. O'Brien, the rider of Sea Money in the Cun. stated that the horse was always goipg well. O’Brien is eighteen yqapf old and has ridden t wenty-ony winner” to date.
