INCOME TAX CLAIM. LONDON, March 6. Sir William Mills, patentee of til Mills bomb, lost an appeal against th Income Tax Commissioner, who chargei a. supertax on 127,750 sterling whiel he received from the Government fo the use of the bomb, of which it wm revealed 75,131,962 were made in wartime. Counsel explained .Mills improved the Roland bomb, a Belgian invention. The Inventors Awards Commission awarded 137,000 for the bomb, ol which 19,250 was paid to Belgians. .Mills contended the award was a lump sum for the acquisition of rights. Income Tax Commissioners argued that although the award referred to future use the possibility thereof was so remote that the sum could be regarded in respect to past use. The Judge held the reference to future use was only inserted to prevent a further claim. Ho added that the award was given in respect to something worth compensation and therefore it was taxable. HEDGES CASE SENTENCES. LONDON, March 6. James McCallan and Frederick Arlold, in connection with the Hedges rase, cabled on 14th February, were sentenced” to six months imprisonnonfc and ,150 fine.
