The second was more prolonged, running into 20 games ,tho Frenchman winning 11—9. Crawford won the deciding set decisively o—2. The heat upset Borotra. Brugnon and Hopman had an excellent match, hut the visitor triumphed brilliantly I—o, 0 2. Hopman extended the Frenchman, whose driving was an outstanding feature. Hopman lacked confidence on the backhand. In the doubles, Patterson and Hone heat Borotra and Bou.ssus ft—3, ft—2, ft—l. The terrific hitting of the Australians outclassed the visitors, when five love-deuce was called ten times, amidst tremendous excitement.
