Tli.? Southern M incs Development Corporation, Ltd., lias issued a report to shareholders regarding the water Oil property. This states ilia' the work for constructing a train lint on the boring site lias continued. During the quarter the hoard was approached by the representative of a big Australian Company interested in prospecting for oil in the Pacific, lot permission to inspect the areas ol the Southern mines at Murchison with a view to opening' up negotiations with the directors for boring on the pro perty by their company on terms to b mutually arranged, providing the in speition gives promise of opennig u; (ommereiai oil!. The representative ifamiliar with the property, and strong ]y advocates the advisability ol push ing on the work of boring. At the moment of writing, the Australian Company is engaged on areain the North Island in which they nr interested, and they intend inspectin the lilackwater areas as soon as it h conveniently possible to do so.
