Friedcnnan, Commander of tlic Tavarisoh, in a statement says when the Baron Douglas came alongside in response to a S.O.S- lie cxplaine<l that the Tavarisch was in no danger but perhaps the other crew were in the water. He also broadcasted a similar message. The Baron Douglas went off presumably to render assistance. Ibe Tavarisch, in response to later messages asking the reasons the S.O.S. was sent out replied: “S.O.S. clear,” ■applying only to themselves. The Tavarisch was unable to manoeuvre and render assistance because she was ( a sailing vessel. The Tavarisch was travelling at (5) knots. [“ The Times ” Service.] '(Received this day at 12.25 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 27. A Bagdad correspondent states the air force made a series of success! ul but hazardous attacks on Wahabis. (Creeping up in cloudy weather they attacked two hundred tirbesmen. fifty-five miles south of Basra. The raiders suffered severely and lied southward, scattering. The air attacks were continued over a wide area for three days. Probably fifty were killed. Other marauding tribes gathered uf Safa, probably for a distribution ol the plunder. The air force raided them ami blew lip a fort. The exact casualties are not known but they were certainly severe. Air operations were attended with great risk owing to the extraordinary accuracy of AkLcvjin marskrncn. CIVIL SERVANTS ENQUIRY. LONDON, Feh. 27. A Foreign Office communique states the Premier and Sir A. Chamberlain ■considered tho report of the Hoard of Inquiry instituted after the Dyne case, in which civil servants were mixed up > n foreign currency ganih- ’ ling. The report states they were glad to observe that though certain offences are serious, from a service viewpoint, there is no question of corruption or misuse of official information, hut as a result of the Board’s findings, Gregory has been dismissed from the service and another official, O’Malley, 1 permitted to resign. Maxes was severely reprimanded, and forteits three 1 years’ seniority. The Board found them guilty of acting in a manner 1 inconsistent with their obligations as civil servants, bv gambling in foreign , ’ i exchange. PRINCE HENRY THROWN. LONDON, Feb. 27. Prince Henry was thrown from his 3hirsc while hunting in Leicestershire. Ho injured his leg muscles and was PP badly shaken, necessitating a few days rest. WOOL PRICES. LONDON, Feh. 23.
