Last Saturday afternoon the Kofcatalii Tennis Club played a return match against All Saints on the All Saint’s Courts. History repeated itself, the visitors winning by 10 sets to 8 sets, and by 123 games to 100 games. The day was ideal lor tennis and many interesting and keenly contested games resulted. (Australian At N.Z. Cable Association.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 25. In the tennis singles, Borotra (France) defeated Patterson G—2. 9—7. Borotrn’s agility counter-balanced Patterson’s position play. He returned Patterson’s service with ease. At the net Borotra was unbeatable. In the mixed doubles, Hawk os and Miss Boyd beat Brugnon (France) and Miss Harper 2—G, 6—2, 6—6. Hawkes played splendidly and was deadly at net and position play. He and Boyd mado a strong pair. Tn the doubles. Patterson and McI nnes (Victoria) beat Borotra and Boussus (France) B—6, B—G. G—4. It was a magnificent game. Patterson tvas at the top of his form. Victoria won the test against France by one game. This is the Frenchmen’s first defeat in Australia in a test match. MELBOURNE. Feb. 25. Borotra in an interview said lie had become so impressed with the play of the Australians that he would put liis money on them to win the European zone contests and thought they might well be one of the contestants in the inter-zone finals.
