Moslem ball', a waggon driver, aged 21, of Havelock, had a remarkable escape from death last evening while on a shooting expedition at Pelorlis Sound, when a .303 rifle, loaded with an explosive bullet went off when he slipped. The bullet passed through the palm of his right hand and ploughed a. furrow up- the side of his neck and face, dipping a piece out of his ear.

About 120 doctors, from all parts of the Dominion are in Hamilton, attending the annual eonl'erence of the N.Z. Division of the British Medical Association. which opened to-day. Included among the visitors is Dr Victor Bonny, of London. At the annual meeting of the branch to-day. Dr Hugh Douglas, ol Hamilton. was inducted President by Dr H. E. Cibbs (Wellington). The animal meeting of the Council was held later. Dr D. M.eCavin (Wellington) being elected Chairman ol the Council for the ensuing year. Dr X. E. Y. Anson (Wellington) was elected lion. The visitors were accorded a civic reception to-night. AY AI HOF BRIDGE OPENED. HAMILTON, Feb. 22. The new bridge over tlie W ailion River at Te Arolia was officially opened this afternoon by the ITon. A. I). McLeod, who referred to the development of the district. The structure cost about £10,400, to replace the old bridge erected eighteen years ago. The bridge is 400 feet, long and has taken IS months to build, the cost being borne by the !e Aiolia Borough.
