RIFLE SHOOTING.
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) BIFLE MEETING. TRENTHAH, Feb. 23. The National Rifle Association’s meeting opened in excellent weather, very warm and windless at the start. There are 350 entries so far, or tlirec ahead of last year. The competitors, were briefly welcomed by the President, Col. K. Hughes, and Col. F. Cresswell on behalf of the Executive. Special reference was made to the visit of the Australians and the hope expressed that a New Zealand team would be sent to Australia in 1029 to compete for the Gordon Highlander trophy. Before moving off to the ranges, the parade paid a tribute to the memory of Captain G. Hood, who was lost in the trans-Tasman flight, and .Toe To Whaipi. of Tuhirangi. who died since last meeting.
