FIRE AT REVINGTON’S HOTEL.
NO SERIOUS DAMAGE DONE. G ()Y ERX()R-G ENE RA L IX REST DEXCE. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) GREY MOUTH, Fel>. 22. The Governor-General and Lady bergusson’s slumbers were disturbed at 5.45 this morning when an outbreak of fire occurred in Revington’s Hotel where they ivere staying. They and other guests were hastily aroused, but there was never any danger. The fire was discovered in a room used as a laundry. Apparently sparks from tlie fire placed used for drying clothes ignited the inside mantlepieee and the fire ran up the chimney breast and broke out through the roof. The Brigade arrived promptly and extinguished the fire. Slight damage miis done to the reading room and laundry only, by fire and water. The Governor-General and Lady Fergusson were interested spectators. The portion of tlie hotel affected was a single storey, containing two rooms only. The insurances on the building are £3OOO and furniture £2OOO.
The Governor-General and party left this morning for AVestport after a most successful visit.
