HOSPITAL FEES

CONCESSION TO FRIENDLY SOCIETIES. WHANG AREi, Feb. IG. 'llie Whangurei Hospital Board recently entered into a tentative agreement with various lodges, the board conceding lower fees to members of the lodges, in return for a guarantee by the lodges of the payment of fees, lhe percentage of the concession, and the percentage of members of the lodges which should pay hospital levies, were points left undecided. The Hikurangi and Wilson’s Collieries’ Medical Society intimated that as the payment of its hospital levies was compulsory, it could guarantee that 100 per cent of its members would he on the hospital lists. At a meeting of the Hospital Board to-day, the miners’ offer was accepted. A letter was received from the Hikurangi Rechahites, who expressed willingness to accept the terms ottered by the hoard previously, namely, a 55-415 basis of concession, provided that 75 per cent of the total membership figured on the hospital list. Court Victory,. A.0.F.. suggested a guarantee of 90 per cent. Acceptance of that offer as moved hv Mr A. J. Murdock, who contended that the hoard should deal with all offers on their merits. This was agreed to. and it was decided to stress the point, that any other lodge might make an arrangement with the hoard similar to that made with the Foresters.
