WESTLAND PROGRESS LEAGUE
.MOXDAY. FEBRUARY 20. The monthly meeting of the League was held at the County (.'handlers r.i 7.-10 p.lll. Present: Messrs T. \Y. Dull' Vice-President), AY. Craw, T. AY. .Bruce. AY. E. Richards. D. .1. Evans, and J. AA’. Morris. Apologies were received for the absence ol Messrs AA . J. Butler and .1. J. Mclntosh. The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed, and the outward correspondence approved. Ihe Postmaster wrote agreeing to close outward afternoon train mails at 4 o’clock, and stated every expedition was made with the sorting ol inward mails.—Deceived with thanks. The Canterbury Progress League forwarded copies of minutes of meetings, and intimated 3,000 copies ol “ A Holiday in AA'estland ” were on order.— Approved. The AlarDiorough Progress League wrote regarding the Tophoti.se route, and stated the Minister of Public AA’orks was expected shortly to visit and open the road ; also extending an invitation for the ceremony.—Received, to await further particulars. The Southland League forwarded a copy of minutes.—Received with thanks. The X.Z. Railways forwarded particulars of picnics by rail which were now not restricted to one picnic per year. Received. The Secretary reported 3,000 copies of the League’s booklet bad been piint ed anil were being distributed by tile Canterbury League.—Received. The matter of advertising with pictorial views through the illustrated weeklies was referred to the Secretary to make enquires as to cost. It was intimated Mr Craw was lent - - jug shortly on transfer to Greymotith Mr Evans moved a vote of appreciation for Air Craw's help at the League meetings, and also stated how much his good work -was appreciated bv the commercial and farming people of the district. Mr Bruce seconded. and praised Mr Craw’s attention to his duties from a personal knowledge of his obliging manner. Air Duff referred to the efficiency displayed by Air Craw, and stated they could not have had a more obliging officer. The motion was carried and it was resolved to send a letter of appreciation of Air Craw’s services to the Department. The meeting rose at 8.20 p.m.
