There are twenty 2 bands, from all parts of New Zealand, 1 comepting in the contest. In the afternoon the C Grade Quick- • step, the B Grade Quickstep, and tlie ■ Pipe Bands’ Quickstep were decided. In the evening tlie G Grade Highland Pipe hands played their test pieces. ’ The contest, was officially opened, by Sir Heaton Rhodes. Following are tlie results:— QUICKSTEP C GRADE. 1 Mosgiel Municipal Military, points 1681,’ music 83, total 251-1 1 Fourth Cadet Battalion, 168, 72, total 240 ... e Teniuka Municipal 156=}, 70, total 226-J 3 B GRADE QUICKSTEP Wellington Central Mission, 157) 85, total 252) I Jupps’ Silver Rand 1(531, 87, total 2501 2 First Battalion (Wellington) 1611 82, total 2431 3 Dunedin City Tramways 1161, 72, total 1883 4 PIPE BAND QUICKSTEPS. In this contest the drill points were halved in compiling totals, and final results were:— Wanganui, 159 1 Wellington, 155) 2 Christchurch Scottish Society, 1531 3 Christchurch Highlanders, 153 ... 4 Timaru, 161) 5 Canterbury Caledonians, 150) ... (> Southland, 141 i PIPE BANDS FINAL. Teniuka Municipal 121 points Fourth Cadet Battalion, Christchurch 120 points Mosgiel Municipal 113 points Mosgiel, having scored a total of 19(5 for music in the quickstep and the test selection, wins the Clins. Begg and Co’s cup for the C. Grade Band.
