The game I I proved to he a very interesting one. some excellent play being shown by each of the four contestants, and the pj result was in doubt until the 18th head, when the winners got the bot- □ tei of the play, and ultimately won Cl by live points.. Stevenson then laid a Lj nice foundation to the next head and y lay one, the skips alternated the posi- ■"! tion till Graham brushed liis second gj shot out and the head went three to his opponents score. With two. heads to go. the play went in Hokitika’s favour, n nice two placing them six up. The last head was easily the “ worst ol the day. Moss played two Ift short, and Stevenson three nearly 3ft short. Moss laying one shot. Beniamin trailed kitty behind the hunch laying second, and' then played for safety. Graham tried to burn the head with his two last howls hut his shots were poor ones, and the game ended in favour of Hokitika by 21 to 10. It was a good game to win. At the conclusion of the play the winners were heartily congratulated on their success. Mr James Ring (Chairman of the Centre) in presenting the cup trophy to be held for the year, congratulated the winners and runners-up alike on the excellence of their play, the game being a credit to them all, and it was no disgrace to he beaten. He also expressed his pleasure that the West (’oast had been able to retain the two cups in spite of the large invasion of players from the Hast Coast, showing the standard of play on the West Coast was a high one. ft was pleasing to know that the cups had also been well distributed. Westport winning the links. Hokitika the pairs, and Gro.vmoiith the singles. Cheers for the v. iuners and runners-up followed, M e.ssrs Benjamin, Stevenson. M/iss I
('■OMTNG MATCHES. The Grey Bowling Club are sending down a four rink team on Wednesday afternoon to play Hokitika, commencing at 2.30 o’clock. The teams will he announced to-morrow. Lady supporters are romitnlecT that it will he a general tea day. On Saturday afternoon a four rink team from Hokitika will journey to Runaiiga to play a mulch there.
