VOHOXOFF’S CLAIM. LONDON. Fob. 18. Dr VoronofPs claim that he can effect rejuvenation of live stock is possibly justified, says the report of the Committee of the Hoard of Agriculture experts, after making inquiries in Algeria. The evidence, however, is not based on critical experimentation, and the data is at present insufficient to warrant an estimate of its economic value, and it is still questionable whether the method will become of considerable importance to the Empire. The claim to an increase of the wool and body weight of rams is supported by figures and sheep shown, but the conditions under which the experiments were made preclude the possibility of forming a critical opinion as to whether the direct economic advantages are negligible. The claim that improved characteristics shown by rams after experiments, are transmitted to offspring involves acceptance of the principle of heredity and it is not substantiated in the realm of science. The report suggests further and more critical tests in Britain.
