In the Commons, Mr Churchill told a questioner that up to March 31st. the excess profits duty collections would amount to 1195 millions, not counting 245 million refunded. Mr Tsicker Lampson in answer to a question said the Government was not aware that Spain had applied for reentry to the League of Nations, but it would warmly welcome Spain’s resumption of co-operation in the League’s work. Mr Headlam, in answer to a question gave the following remarkable figures relating to last year s recruitments:— Navy and Royal Marine candidates 53.915: accepted candidates only .5655; awaiting decision 394. The rejections were due to physical, medical and educational unfitness. Sir S. Hoare stated that the candidates for the Air Force totalled 83-56, of whom 2453 were accepted. The rejections were due to educational unfitness. deformities of the feet, poor physique.'diseases of the ears, heart, vision and lungs. Sir P. Cunliffe Lister said the exports of touring commercial cars in 1924 totalled £4.809.000 and in 19?7, £4.456.000.
