Following a breakdown in negotiations lie tween the Liberal Federation and Country Party on the question of amalgamation, three of seven tnemlvers of the Country Party, in the State Parliament have left the Party. Among these, is Air Mclntosh (Leader of the Party and Afinistor of Works in the Butler Government). The Country Party has decided to nominate its own members for the forthcoming Federal Elections. Afembers of the Labour Party expressed delight at the possible disruption of the two sections. SPRINTER DISQUALIFIED. MELBOURNE, Fob. 12. For allegedly setting out incorrect performances in bis entry, Sprinter -'•lies, who defeated Banner in tbe 75 and 220 yards events for the world’s sprint title, was disqualified by tbe protest committee from further competing in the forthcoming CIOOO handicap. Miles explained that his performances were compiled by a friend acting for him. He had made a mistake, but had no intention to deceive. The committee decided to permit Banner to compete in the forthcoming 1(X) and 130 yards world’s championship events.
