In the men’s singles, Borotra was beaten for the first time in Australia by Crawford, fi-l, (i~L Crawford played a magnificent game, frequently passing Borotra at the net, and at other times driving hard to bis feet. In the doubles, Borotra mid Bnigiton defeated Patterson and llopmnii 4-3 •3-7. li-3, (5-4, 7-5. The match was spectacular, with all the players at top form. The Australians won the first two sets, but the visitors gradually made up the leeway. The fifth set was a thrilling game, and progressed evenly to three all. ITopman dropped his service and the Frenchmen won the next, giving them a lead 5-3. The Frenchmen held the match by a point, hut the Australians won the next three for the game. Borotra served hut lost the game for five all, and the Frenchmen winning the next, led (1-5. Bnignnii served the final game, and won the set 7-J. and the match.
