The sale of contraceptives is prohibited without special permission, and children arc to he taught that childlessness is tantamount to treason.

The “Daily Mail’s” Berlin correspondent reports that the Grand Duke Andrew Vhulimirovitch. first cousin of the Tsar, had an affecting meeting in Paris with Anastasia, while she was en route to America, and authorised the Duke Leuclitenherg to state that lie acknowledges her a' the Tsar’s youngest daughter. The " Daily Express,” editorially, expresses the hope that Earl Jellieoo will show wisdom ami decline tlie offei* of the Legion, which is almost composed of ex-army men. Further. * the Legion above all. should stand apart from the sphere of controversy. Earl .Jellieoe’s war record, rightly or wrongly, has been the subject of a fiercer controversy than ever centred around a British Admiral. The Legion particularly needs a man ol personality. It appeals to. and can move a great mass of fellow-countrymen. Despite his services. Earl Jellicoe is not a household figure, and he does not touch the heart and imagination ot the people, nor is he ol an age when fresh burdensome duties can be successfully essayed. The one man adequately fitted to succeed Earl Haig ■ the Prince of Wales.
