FARMER’S LAPSE.
PALMERSTON X.. Feb. 7. At the Supreme Court to-day, Corneille Hubert do May Dalkemade, farmer. was louiul guilty <d attempting to defraud the Crown Grantee of a hill of sale over stock owned by the accused, by selling 11 cows without consent. The' jury recommended mercy m view of the hard struggle aeeusen seemed to have had during ten years’ farming. Sentence was deferred. DUNEDIN SESSIONS. DUNEDIN. Feh. 7. At the Supreme Court to-day. before Mr Justice Sim. Charles Alexander -Moore, who had pleaded guilty in tne Lower Court to the theft of money from the dwelling of Annie R. Irwin, was ordered to he detained for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding three years. George Alexander Mason pleaded not guilty to charges of breaking and entering and theft at Alexandra, and receiving stolen goods. Accused was found guilty of receiving and was remanded for sentence.
