Sydney Jones on bis return from participating in the KirkWiiulyer Cup Matches said: “ Our victory was much more of a shock t:> New Zealand than it was to ourselves. _..0 N.S.Wales team pulled together well, and did not overplay in the tournament games before the contest.”

Dr Jones spoke in enthusiastic terms of the hospitality of the New Zealand golfers .and said the attentions from the president down to the most junior office hearer precluded the possibility of the team suffering from lack of entertainment. Dr Jones says the amateur standard of play in New Zealand is indeed high. Professionals’ standard is not. comparatively, as high. The explanation lies in the fact that Arthur Duncan has been easily the most outstanding golfer in Australia and New Zealand for tlie last ten years, and has sot such a standard for young amateurs to emulate. Dr" Jones also paid a tribute to the New Zealand officials preparang the course, which was very dry. They had the course up to concert pitch in spite of the unfavourable conditions. Other members of the team also paid a tribute to New Zealand golf.
