(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) Hi,SHOP BARNES’S COMMENT. LONDON, Feb. 5. A large crowd besieged the Temple Church to hear Bishop Barnes. The, Solicitor-General (Sir Thomas Inskip K.C.) was present. Hundreds stood throughout the service. Bishop Barnes declared that the Church was only narrowly prevented by Parliament from making changes which would end in the primitive superstition that a priest could give spiritual properties to innate matter. DEMONSTRATION AT ST. C’UTHBERTS. LONDON, Feb. 5. Four hundred people walked out of St. Cuthbert’s Church, before the sermon. Hundreds followed the vicar to his home. Air Kellogg is wasting his time .says the “Quotidien” pointing out tlie submarine is the only weapon with which small navied countries can defend themselves against dreadnoughts and cruisers. If Mr Kellogg’s proposals were accepted he would gain a signal triumph, clearing away the last Obstacle to tbe tyranny of the seas, dreamed of by American Imperialists. THE SOVIET AND INDIA. LONDON, Feb. G. The Daily Mail Riga correspondent says tlie Soviet press is intensely inerested in the reports of the disturbances in India. Dispatches from India are published with headlines: “Revolt Against Britain.” “India’s Masses Awakening.” The Communist International lias telegraphed to India assuring the rioters of their warm support. AN IAIPERIAL DEAION.STRATiTiX. I LONDON, Feh. 6. The “Daily News” Berlin correspondent states the Communist and the Steel Helmet’s League clashed fairing the latter's demonstration, attFnueil by the ex-Kaiser’s sons, Princes Eitel Friedrich and August Wilhelm. A bunded and twenty Communists, were arrested.
