Tlie- peace of .Manchuria is threatened by a financial panic- and sudden drop in the Fengpiao paper currency issued by Cluing Tso Lin, and nol supported by silver reserves. The authorities aro employing highhanded measures to compel merchants to accept the Fengpiao. Numbers of exchange brokers were executed tor refusing. A hundred shops have closed and hundreds of merchants were bankrupt. Troop riots were barely averted on the promise of payment in silver. The entire judicial personnel resigned and others are following. The City of Mukden is filled with wild rumours. Chang Tso Lin is in a dilemma afe to how to prevent the bankruptcy of the Manchurian Government.-
