A very interesting article by a Can-' terbury visitor on Fox Glacier is published in this issue. The statements as a whole are very accurate, aiid hear out actual local conditions. A very sound proposal is made that an officer (jf the Tourist Department should visit Westland, and look into requirements. Such a visit is well overdue. Other centres have tourist bureaux and officers in plenty, but hero in Westland, which visitors from all parts of the world are extolling with such vigor the territory is almost neglected, ft appears to he an opportune time to press for Mich a visit, ami to arrange that the officer prepare a comprehensive Ve]H)rt on all the beauty spots of the district, with the object of arranging a definite tour. Mr Amery and other public, men have said so much about the fairyland glory of Westland, that the country will he much sought after in subscqeiit seasons. Now is tin opportune lime to ar-
'■ange definite (ours within lhe district, and the Tourist Department is me prqper body to undertake the task. The Department has officers and photgraphers at its disposal, and the duty should not be longer neglected.
