INQUEST VERDICT. DAXNEYIRKE. Ecli. 3. The death occurred at Dnnnevirke Public Hospital early on Wednesday morning, of William Perrin, aged (i 7 years, who had been an inmate of the institution for some months, suffering from chronic bronchitis and asthma. An inquest held into the circumstances disclosed that Perrin bad gone to Palmerston North, where be said lie had purchased veronal pellets, eight of which he had taken in cocoa 011 Tuesday, about 7 p.tn., presumably for inducing sleep. He died some hours later. The verdict was that death was due to cardie failure, following on pulmonary haemorrhage accelerated by an overdose of veronal, selladministered. there being no evidence to show that it was taken for any other purpose than inducing sleep.
PATIENT SUICIDES. BLENHEIM, Feb. 3. William Crook, aged 18, single, suffering from an incurable disease, cut bis throat with a razor at Wairau Hospital this morning. He had been an inmate of the institution since July 27th Inst and had shown no suicidal tendencies previously. DEATH OF AIRS M. HANNAN. GREY.MOUTir. Feb. 3. Obituary.—At Christchurch this morning. Mrs AI. Hannan, widow ol the late Mr Michael Hannan. formerly Crown Prosecutor of Greylnoutb. Tbe deceased lady was a notable war worker at Greymoiitb and during the influenza epidemic. She is survived by a win. Mr J. A. Hannan (banister. and Chairman of the Grey Hospital Board), and five daughters.
