Ministers will he appointed to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in addition to London, Paris, Tokio, and other countries where Canadian trade is - large or promising. SMUGGLING IN CANADA. OTTAWA. Jan. 27. The final report of the Royal Commission mi Customs and Excise Duties has been tabled in a 23-page book. Drastic changes to prevent- smuggling are recommended, including the abolition of all bonded export liquor warehouses. This recommendation, if adopted, will ban the export of liquor from Canada. AIRSHIP LANDS ON STEAMER. AN IMPORTANT ACI fJEYEMENT. WASHINGTON. Jan. 27. For what is believed .to be the first time in the history of aeronautics, a landing was made by a dirigible on the deck of an aircraft carrier when the l.Ps Angeles to-day came to rest on the Saratoga in a carefully planned test.
It is believed that this will make possible the refuelling of dirigibles at sea. thus greatly increasing their radius of action.
