LATE LOCALS.

On his retirement. Mi 1 J. B. AleNaughton, Manager of. the National Bank, of New Zealand at Greymouth. was fnrewelled by the staff on Friday. Air McNaughton, who lias spent fortythree years in the Bank’s service, was for thirty-five years associated with the AVest Coast branches, having been Rationed at Lyell, Recfton, Ahaura, Hokitika, and Greymouth. He spent eighteen years in charge of the Hokitika branch and eleven years as manager at Greymouth. The staff made him a presentation, consisting of a solid leather travelling bag. Air A\ . Roche, the accountant, said the staff wished to mark the goodwill and esteem with which they regarded their late chief, whose kindness and consideration they all had gratefully to acknowledge. He had had a long and successful term of service with the Bank, and had well-earned the respite upon which lie was now entering. They trusted that he would enjoy the best of health and long life, and assured him that their best wishes would go with him in his retirement after Ms iortytluee years of active service. Alt- AlcNaughtoii said he had to thank the staff not only for their gift and kind wishes, but also for their loyalty and co-operation throughout his term. He wished them every success in their future careers, and assured them that lie would ever retain a happy recollection of their association.
