The Government charges the prisoners with having plotted against the State. Suggestions that President Co lies and Archbishop Guadalajara moot, and seek a compromise, are not yet approved in either camp. It is said the Hierarchy will hold out indefinitely in a hope that the Government will come to terms through the force of public opinion. The Government, on the other hand, insists upon tho acceptance of its laws, especially tho registration of priests with the municipal authorities, which Roman Catholics 'argue (would give control of the priesthood to the State..
