JANUARY 27 th. RAIN PREVENTS PLAY. Heavy rain throughout the night continued this morning, preventing play, but the rain stopped before 11 o'clock, and the courts soon dried up. The sun came out brightly, and it was

very warm. Play in the concluding stages ot the tournament commenced at 1 p.m, semifinals and finals being set down, and much interest is being shown in the play.
