Dredging at the eastern end of St. Mary’s Bay. in continuation of the reclamation scheme, was commenced liy the Auckland Harbour Board’s suction dredge a few days ago (reports tin 1 -“Herald"). The spoil will he used for the reclamation at the shore end of Western Wharf, and operations will be continued for several months. The reclamation is to have an area of about twenty-six acres, to he made available for boat-building and timber yards. One portion will be occupied by a large landing stage for vehicular ferries. A deep channel will be dredged for the ferries, and this will also provide an approach to the Harbour Board’s slipway.
