According to the schedule prepared by the Civic Commission, fresh tenders called for the City Coal Supply show the aggregate price was approximately £SOOO sterling less than the tenders, which were received by the late City Council and rejected by the Commission.

In reply to a deputation representing the Producers, the Minister ot Markets (Mr Paterson) said the matter of tariff and reciprocal arrangements with New Zealand concerning the importation oi New Zealand butter to Australia, was under consideration hv Cabinet. It was probable the Minister would proceed to the Dominion at an early date to confer with the N'ew Zealand Ministry on Lite matter. The deputation said the dairy farmers throughout Australia were concerned about the prospective importations *by speculators of New Zealand butter. The increased duty came into operation on ]sth June, and already there win New Zealand butter in the cool stores in Australia waiting sale at prices below those ruling for Australian butter.
