SHANGHAI, Jan. id Rivalry to control tho Yangtse lias resulted in the outbreak of hostilities between the forces of the Nanking Government, under Chiangkaishck, and the Independents, under Beitsungclii formerly Chiang’s chief of staff, who was responsible for the capture of Shanghai. Fighting broke out in the vicinity of Changsha. 1\ ith one steamer having already landed a large consignment of arms and ammunition for the armies of Changtsolin and Sunchuanfang, and with another enroute to Newehwang trom Manilla with a similar consignment, the Nationalist Government announced it is taking action regarding the supplies of cargo and reported supplies of arms to German firms now existing in territory under Nationalists control, which will be sea ed. Foreigners will be arrested and punished. Orders have been issued tor the detention of the vessel from Manilla and Nationalist gunboats are seeking to prevent her receacliing her destination. A Japanese cruiser reported a vessel was skirting the coast of Aormosa to elude capture.
