AOOINCTON STOCK SALES. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 19. At Addington stock sale yesterday there was a good entry of stock. Beef —'A small yarding (only 364 head). The market opened briskly for all classes and remained so throughout the day. The quality was good. There were very few quality steers ioi’ward, with a rise of 20s to 25s per head. Heavier cattle did not show this rise. Extra heavy prime realised £ls 15s to £l7. extra £l9 17s6d, prime medium weight £l3 10s to £l4, medium £ll 15s to £l2 15s, young light £8 5s to £lO.
Cows and heifers—Choicest £ll to £l4 17s (id. medium £8 5s to £9 15s, others £4 1.5 s to £0 10s. Store cattle—AA’ith a medium entry and a large audience ol buyers, a line of 2. 3 and 4-year steers brought keen competition, making £8 7s (kl, to £lO 12s Gd for host cal vers. Nicely bred best cows £3 5s to £5 7s, medium £2 5s to £3 2s Gd. Old and' inferior sorts £1 upwards. Fat sheep—There was a larger entry and the quality was very irregular. The market, except for very bestquality, was somewhat easier, hut the sale was very even throughout, and exporters were aide to secure a lair proportion. Prime wethers 30s to 32s 6d, extra to 35s -kl, medium 27s to 29s (id, otners to 245. prime owes 24s to 27s 6d. extra to 34s Id. medium 19s to 235. Oils M'S to 14s. Store, sheep—Between six and eight thousand were entered. Store lambs opened weaker, but hardened. Prices were on an average Is per head easier. Considering the entry, a remarkable clearance was made. AA’est Coast lambs realised lSs 5d to 225, crossbreds 19s Id to 245. down cross, best 22s in 24s (id, corriednles His Id to 25s 2d. Fat lambs—There were 3000 yarded, including several AA’est Coast lines. There was a good sale and in our opinion, prices were well up to and in most cases well above the schedule. Pigs—There was a largo yarding of pork. The quality of bacon forward (showed an improvement. Suitable weight sold at a .slight advance of last week. Pork also showed an improvement in price. There was a medium entry of store pigs, and with a largo attendance of the public, the market was keen throughout. Large stores were in demand and weaners were sold at prices which were better than those of last week.
