MONDAY. JAN. tilth. The Hoard met at 8 p.m. Present: .Messrs J. J. Breeze (Chairman). W. Jeffries, R. Meharry, L. H. Morel, G. Davidson, M. Keenan, E. A. Wells, and T. W. Duff. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. IXW ARD CORR EMPONDENOE. From Hospital Department, Wellington, approving of extension of overdraft limit ; approving of the appointment of Matron Lloyd ; approving of debenture loan for purchase of maternity home.-—Rceeivcd. From National Provident fund agreeing to payment of pension to a formesmember of the staff.—Received. From Mtate Forest Service, stating inability to advise number of timber workers in Westland.—Received. From Grey Hospital Board inviting a conference with timber workers with a view to entering into an agreement with timber workers for payment o' maintenance fees in hospital.—Received. It was resolved that the Chairman represent the Board. , From Canterbury Hospital Board asking for payment of annual laboratory fee Cso.—Received and agreed to. From A. Hamilton, thanking Board for their handsome gift.—Received. From A. Silver, thanking Board for assistance in obtaining pension.—Received. From Nurse Scott. Wailio. forwarding resignation as district nurse in South Westland.—Received and accepted, the services to terminate on 29ih February.

From Town Clerk, Kuniara, forwarding levy due.—Received. The tender of Andrews Bros, for the supply of meat for the ensuing year (the only one) was accepted. REPORTS. From Surgeon-Superintendent reporting on December Ist there were 32 patients in Hospital ; admitted during month, 2G males, 14 females—4o; total treated. 43 males, 29 females—72 ; discharged cured, 13 males, 14 females—--27 ; died, 4 males. Total discharged—--17 males, 14 females—3l. In hospital 31st December, 2(1 males, 15 females —- 41. In hospital for over two months. 8 males, 6 females—l4.—Received. The House Committee reported conditions at Hospital were satisfactory and mentioned some requirements. —• Received and adopted. The Chairman moved that a vote of thanks he accorded to those who had kindly supplied ’Xmas cheer. Seconded hv Mr Duff and carried.

Accounts, amounting to C3B-1 4s Od were passed for payment. The Treasurer reported receipts Cl 102 7s 3d, payments C 1033 7s 7d. credit balance C3G7 13s od.—Received. Mi- Jeffries reported that in connection with Hospital Day fund the total in hand was £365 and he recommended the closing he extended till next meeting. Agreed to. The next meeting was fixed for 13th February.
