VITRIOL THROWN. LONDON, Nov. 21. About 8 o’clock last evening as a man was sitting at the wheel of a motor-car standing outside tho hack entrance of the Devonshire Club in Arlington street, W., a woman approached, opened the door, and spoke to him. There was a pc re am and the woman dashed away. Some men ran to the car and found the man inside holding his Hand to his face. He was taken to a doctor, who found that vitriol had been thrown at him. Although badly burned on the forehead and on the cheek he was able later to drive the car away. Meanwhile a woman was chased by several people and detained in Jerniyn street.

The woman, who gave the name of Ethel Weaver, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to the man, who is stated to he a chauffeur.

GRATITUDE IN L.S.D. PARIS, Nov. 21. People who when valuables they have lost have been restored to them thank tile honest finder but forget to reward him suitably will have to express their gratitude more practically if the Bill voted by tbe Chamber of Deputies today is passed by the Senate. The Bill, which may be called the “ Rewarding of Honesty Bill,” stipulates that a reward equal to 6 per cent of the value must be paid to the finder on all lost property worth up to £BOO, and of 7 per cent on all similar articles valued at more than that figure. If tile finder refuses any reward, the amount is to be paid into the local poor-box.
