(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) IXANGAHUA TRAGEDY. EEEFTOX, Jan. 10. The body of a man named Hugo Trumbold was found in a whare at Rocklands, near Inangahua Junction, at 1 p.m. to-day, with the head blown off, apparently by an explosion of gelignite. The body was lying on a lied, and there was traces of gelignite about the whare. Deceased was a German by birth, about 58 years of age. He is believed to be single. He was last seen on Saturday evening. An inquest will be held to-morrow. SEAMAN’S TRAGIC END. CHRISTCHURCH, dan. 10. Advice has been received from the Karetu, en route to Newcastle, that Joseph J. Murray, an able seaman, was lost overboard on Sunday. Murray was well known in Lyttelton, where his widow resides. Ho was 29 years of age. He came to the Dominion when a lad, and after leaving school joined the Union Coy’s training ship Aparima as an apprentice. He was in the Aparima when she was torpedoed in the English Channel. going down Porter's Pass yesterday afternoon, his ear got out of control, and the brakes failed to hold. The occupants expected every minute to he hurled over the precipice, hut, to save a severe smash. Air Green steered his car into the hill, which caused it to capsize into the mithlle of the road.

The car was badly damaged. Airs Green received a broken arm and severe cuts, while Air Green and his daughter are suffering from severe cuts and bruises. The son escaped unhurt.

Thomas James Campbell labourer, •18, pleaded guilty to-day to obtaining LJ-> by means of false pretence', the story being that he went to a registry office in Palmerston North, representing he was a well-to-do farmer at Taihape and wished to engage a housekeeper.

Tie engaged a woman named Blanche Cook, and obtained £33 from her by explaining he was temporarily embarrassed and wanted to truck some stock to the farm. He sent the woman to Taihapc, where she found she had been hoaxed.

Accused also admitted obtaining £5 by a valueless cheque and £3 from Charles Simpson, by representing he was a relative of Simpson’s son-in-law.

Accused had previously served terms of imprisonment for false pretences forgery and theft.
