The continued publication of stories to the effect that the United States Government is becoming more sympathetic to a programme which would < ouplc hi reduction of German reparations with a readjustment downwards I of wartime debts owed to the United States, finally brought details to-day from the State and Treasury Departments. ’ The United States is not considering participation, as reported, in an international economic conference at which reparations and war debts would be considered. The United States Government does not anticipate at this time any developments in connection with German reparations revision, which would involve the United States in a great international operation of any kind. The Department of Commerce announces that American investments abroad reached a total of thirteen thousand million dollars at the end of 1927, exclusive of about ten thousand million dollars of war time debts. Foreign issues publicly offered in the United States during 1927 totalled approximatelv 1.575,000.000 dollars.
