FRESH WATER RECORD. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Jan. 3. Norman Bowsett to-night put up a new fresh water record for a hundred yards. The New Zealand record is 61 1-3 secs which Dowsett to-night lowered by 4-3 of a second. RECORD FOR 220 YARDS. AUCKLAND. Jan. 3. The Auckland Amateur Swimming Championships were concluded tonight. Miss E. Champion broke the New Zealand record for 220 yards, held hy Miss K. Miller (Otago) for intermediate girls by 5 seconds, covering the distance in 2min. 32 2-3 secs. In the 100 yards ladies’ race Miss E. Stockley "'as defeated by Miss D. Magee, this being Miss Stockley’s first defeat for throe years. Time for race was 07 2-3. Results : 440 yards—Men: G. Bridson 1, E. V. Cunnnld 2.
