Dknsity Of Population - In N.Z. The most densely populated county in New Zealand is that of Eden, including most of Auckland I’rhan Area (2877 persons to the .square mile). Next to Eden in this respect stands Heathcote, including much of Christchurch Urban Area (2030 persons to the square mile). Wellington is the most densely populated provincial district (2-j.3 per .square mile) ; followed by Taranaki (18.3) and Auckland (16.8). Westland (3.1): Marlborough (4.3) and Nelson (4.7) stand at the opposite end of the scale. Such, however, has been the recent growth of Auckland, that, while as recently as fen years ago Auckland stood fifth in order of density of population, she is now third.
