TASMAN FLIGHT

THE STARTING DAY. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) SY DN FA', Jan. 5. Capt. Knight says the flight to New Zealand will not he started before Saturday at the earliest. It may he Sunday night. They wore flying strictly by compass reckoning, in order to ascertain how the compass would behave on the journey across the Tasman. They took no notice of railway lines or other land marks. When they saw high mountains they thought it was the Blue Mountains, but later, found it to he ißowral. The only tiling that went wrong on the flight was the wireless

apparatus. The airmen express gratification, at Mr Bruce withdrawing the prohibition of the flight. They said. We realise that we are taking the flight at our own responsibility and without in any way involving either the Australian or New Zealand Governments.
