The fight ended in the ninth round, when Maddox’s left ankle gave out and the referee awarded the fight, to Leckie. Tn a second ten-rounder. tommy Griffiths (Dunedin) .8.5, drew with F. Taylor (Auckland) 8.0, in a' splendid fight. The fight, which was the closest seen here for some time was clean and scientific, hoth men display ing perfect foot and headwork. ADMITTED TO PROILmON. GISBORNE, Jan. 4. ,At the Police Court Francis John Cassidy pleaded guilty to charges of theft and false pretences. . He was admitted to probation for three years.
