WESTLAND WEATHER
The return in respect to bright sunshine recorded for Hokitika this year promises to Ik, a record. The total for the year will probably he not less than 2130 hours, which will ho about the record since the sunshine Inis l>een measured here. On the other hand the rainfall "ill show in the aggregate a decline of about ten inches for the year, though it will still he a substantial total in the region of an average of nine inches per momn.
The weather for the year has been a very favourable one for the farming community, and there is an abundance of feed lor stock. The tourists are likewise enjoying excellent weather. The rainfall of the mid-week was much needed and very acceptable. Rivers rose slightly, hut are again normal, and motor and cycle traffic is proceeding as usual. Numerous lioliday-innkers about the district have had a very enjoyable time.
