The following brief statement oil the subject was issued from tlie office of the Prime Minister yesterday: The Administration of Western Samoa.. after taking steps required by the Samoa Amendment Act. 1927. has been authorised by the Governor-Gen-eral in Council to require Messrs Olnf Frederick Nelson. Edwin Win. Gurr and Arthur George Smyth to depart from Western Samoa.” Messrs Nelson and Gurr are to remain absent for a ]>eriod of 5 years and Smyth for a period of two years.

The necessary orders made by the Administrator were served upon the gentlemen named yesterday.
