(Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 22. A message from Provincetown says Crumby has finally admitted ho has abandoned all hope of finding anyone alive, in the sunken submarine. He said, “I have not the slightest doubt that there is no life on S 4, but we are keeping Washington informed of activities and any action towards suspension would come from there. Divers have completed an extensive survey of the ship and went carol idly over the hull tapping with hammers but there was no response. An examination revealed both torpedo tubes were closed which indicated the imprisoned men made no attempt to escape through them. Rescuers have continued blowing air into the lull'.”
