NEW MOTOR ROAD
WKST COAST TO BLENHEIM. 'By Telegraph.-—Special to Guardian). BLENHEIM. Dee. 22. The completion of the Wash bridge across the upper Wairua River opens to motorists new roads, fresh scenes and an opportunity for delightful exploration during the holiday season. It is true some of the new roads are rather rough,'’but it is now possible to motor on a reasonably good surface from Blenheim to Tophou.sc and from there via Koha.tu to Nelson returning to Blenheim by the ordinary highway via the Wnngamoa and Havelock, while in the vicinity of TViphouse a detour of five miles may ho rondo to beautiful Lake Rotoiti, this piece of road being brand new hut quite passable in good weather. It is also possible to proceed from Rotoiti to the West Coast joining the Nelson-West Coast highway to Kakatiri (Pigomanu) lietween Glenhope and Murchison, hut tin's road is still very rough and is not to he recommended except for first class drivers and those in search of adventure. Aged people and those affected by the lurching of a car arc advised not to undertake this trip which will also prove a trial to people of a nervous disposition. It is cortnin that despite its unfinished and rough condition the road from Blenheim right through to Knwitire and the West Coast will he made immediate use of by motorists. It is anticipated that the entire work will he completed within six or nine months and that the new route will then be declared a highway.
