CHINESE TROUBLE.

Details are arriving from Cnnton, showing the vengeance of the anti-So-viets. following the retaking of the City and the punishment which was meted out to Russians who directed the uprising. It is reliably reported that the Nationalist Troops seized all the Russians connected with tile Consulate, men and women irrespective of position and a numlier of these were executed immediately the Consulate-General told Staff were taken prisoners. The report that they were executed is not confirmed. A sad procession of Soviets marched through the_ dusty streets, find formed togotherkfeiring placards stating that these cipmes had been committed and inviting the public to commit acts of violence. As a‘result the army of prisoners were slashed with knives and otherwise injured and mutilated. Several former Russian advisors to Kokumintang were among those executed. Canton streets are littered with corpses, and Communist revolters’ goods. Trucks loaded with bodies, moved to the country, testifying to the ruthless slaughter by the Government Officers. Carts piled high with bodies made a procession through the streets. The Cantonese leader denounced the Russian conspiracy which is responsible for the appalling scones of devastation, and demand that the Russians he driven out of the country. It is officially rel>orted a thousand were killed af the retaking of the city, in which Chinese gunboats were prominent.
