The correct totals are 238 to 205. Lord Hugh Cecil said: “Last night, we were told we ought to have disestablished. This is a measure of disestablishment. AA'hatever the Church Assembly does seems wrong. If it tries to adjust its affairs to establishment it is wrong; if it tries to separate the Church of India from the State it is wrong'. **
Lord AA'intcrton replying said the Indian Government recognised the Hindoo religions as well as the Anglican. by exempting mosques and temples from land tax.
