CONVENT PUPILS’ CONCERT

A PRONOUNCED SUCCESS. Lnst evening a large and appreciative audience greeted the Convent Pupils when they inside their appearance at the Princess Theatre. Hie concert was splendid, reflecting great credit on teachers and performers. There was not a hitch throughout, item following item in quick succession, and judging by the numerous encores given the audience were highly delight* ed. The various items both vocal and instrumental were capably rendered and showed very careful preparation. The programme presented was a very full one, the concert terminating shortly before eleven o’clock. Prior to the conclusion of the concert. Hev. Father Finnerty thanked the audience for the support so generously given and assured them that the Sisters would he deeply grateful for the manner in which they appreciated the efforts of the pupils. The following was the programme given :—Orchestral selection, “ Ashes of Hoses,” Convent pupils; pianoforte trio, “Song of the Lute,” .Misses Jacobs, G. Jacobs, and Lvnn ; character song “ The Rheumatiz.” Grandpas and Grandmas; vocal duet “ Ye Hanks and Braes,” Mrs Findlay and Miss Sherriff; recitation, .oiss X. Stephens ; band item by McNamara’s Band (Conductor: J. Moore); recitation, selected, Miss I!. Evans: violin trio, " Neapolitan," P. Crough. F. Ilotdahan. .1. Ackers; action chorus. "Fisher Girls.” junior girls; pianoforte solo “ La Regatta Venitiann,” Miss G. Jacobs; vocal duet, "The Second Minuet,” Misses M. Hanrahau and A. Lynn; glees (a) “Come Fairies,” (1 1» “ Come Where My Love Lies Dreaming,” pupils. Orchestral selection “oriental Perfumes,” puils ; recitation “ Competition Echoes,” Miss P.
