TAWA FLAT TUNNEL
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Dee. 15. The Tawa Flat tunnelling trouble is not yet settled. The Workers’ Union have complained of unsuitable conditions which the contractors deny. The contractors state that they have met the workers in conference twice without satisfaction. The men they dismissed were dismissed for not working fast enough; others for insobriety. The contractors denied the statement that the wages were low and stated tliat most of the men engaged are doing tunnelling work for the first time.
