Clifton thanking Board for letter of sympathy.—Received. From Dr alentiue, Wellington, in reference to proposed loan of £IOOO, staling the Minister had approved.— Received. Fioni Public T rust Office, AAellingtou, in connection with same matter. —Received. From Ross Borough Council stating they did not approve of the purchase of a maternity home at Hokitika, ns the T'otara Hospital was more suitable for the purpose; from Hokitika Borough Council and AA'estlaml County Council and Tvumara Borough Council, offering no objection to proposed loan.—Received.

AVaiuta, regretting inability to accept position of matron of "Westland Hospital.—Deceived. From North Canterbury Board in reference to payment of fees. —Deceived. From Nurses Grant and Fowler in connection with furnishings for maternity home. —B ere i v ed. From Nurse Scott, AYaibo, in reference to an account for services rendered. -Deceived. The Chairman moved that application be made for an overdraft of £750. Seconded by Mr Duff and carried. APPLICATION FOB MATBON. Todd. Invercargill. Muriel J. Anderson. Mnngntawhiri, Auckland. S. M. Kerr. Thames. Grace Calder, Dunedin. A. .T. Lloyd. Palmerston Norlli. The Chairman moved that Miss A. •T. Lloyd bo appointed Matron of Westland Hospital. -Seconded by Afr Keenmid and carried. BEPOBTS.

Prom Surgeon Superintendent, reporting oil 31st, October there were 30 patients. Admitted during November. 11 males. 12 females; total treated. 30 males. 2!) females—so. Discharged cured. 10 males, 12 females; relieved. 1 male; died. 2 males. 2 females; total discharged. 13 males, 14 females—27. In hospital 30th. Novenilier, 17 males. 15 females- 32. Tn hospital for two months. 9 males. 0 females—ls. Received. Tin l House Committee (per Air Davidson (Chairman! reported conditions at tbe hospital were satisfactory; and recommending that the usual Christmas cheer be arranged for the patients and staff.—Received. Mr Duff said lie bad visited the Hospital that day and found that Air Davidson bad planted out portion of tbe newly cleared area, with native fodder, and

it was looking well. Every visit showed much improvement in the grounds under the supervision ol Air Davidson. He also moved that the Board purchase the horse at the hospital at tin' price ol £3. Seconded hv Air Aleliarry and agreed to. Ihe Chairman said there was a lurtlier four acres near the O.P. Home that should be cleared and slumped. Afr Jeffries supported, and the proposal was agreed to. Accounts amounting to £4oo'7s id wer passed for payment. Tbe Treasurer reported receipts £914 9s Gd, payments £1037 0s Bd. credit balance £2B 15s.—Received.

M r Jeffries moved that the Board place on record their appreciation of the services of Matron Hamilton while in charge of the institution. She Hadf rendered very valuable services during her term of office. The Chairman seconded the motion, doing she had been a real good matron and he hoped the next would he as good. Mr Huff supported, tributing the excellent work of the retiring Matron. Mr Davidson said Matron Hamilton had been most considerate in every respect and had done wondorful work for the institution. The motion was agreed to. The Board rose at 9.10 p.m.
