CHINESE UNREST. SHANGHAI, Dec. 11

A naval wireless from Hankow reports large numbers of Russians are arriving there. Communists are again gaining ground and there is much simmering unrest against foreigners. Disorder:; were renewed in the native quarter. A licit ish naval guard was compelled to clear British ships, truculent Nationalist soldiers demanding free passages up the Yangtse.

The immediate withdrawal of British troops from Shanghai is demanded by the Nationalists Commissioner of Foreign Affairs in response to a public outcry raised as the outcome of shooting a Chinese house boy by a British Corporal, Robertson, of Scots Guards, Batman to a provost Marshal of the defence force in the latter s apartment. Robertson is awaiting trial at the British Consular Court on a murder charge. Chinese officials were offered seats on the Bench. CHINESE COMMUNISM. (Received this day at 9.30 a.ui). HONG KONG. Dec. 12. Communism is supreme in Canton following the labourers’-peasants’ coup, when five thousand seized the police stations, disarming the force occupying the Government Buildings. The ranks of the attackers were swelled by students and others communistieally inclined. Many police were killed.

Proclamations were issued calling on the people to support communism and co-operate with Soviet Russia. Hundreds of prisoners were released from the prisons. At least twenty big fires were started. There is fighting in the streets the whole day long and looting is universal. A reign of terror prevails. According to the Reds there is now no Government and no work and Canton is just as good as Soviet Russia.
